The European Union must establish its Digital Product Passport Registry by 19 July 2026 under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, commonly called the ESPR. The Registry will create a common European infrastructure for registering, locating and verifying Digital Product Passports.

The EU Central Digital Product Passport Registry is scheduled to become operational in July 2026. The registry is not designed to hold every full product passport file. For manufacturers, importers, brands, marketplaces, and compliance teams, the practical message is simple: DPP readiness is now a market-access project, not a sustainability experiment. Once an applicable product category requires a DPP, the product must have a valid passport and registry entry before it can
